Victoria Pendleton CBE is Great Britain’s most successful female cyclist of all time and one of the highest profile sports women in the country
Description:

Join us for an inspiring evening with one of Britain’s most celebrated athletes, Victoria Pendleton.

A true sporting legend and two-time Olympic gold medallist, Victoria has achieved an extraordinary 34 World Championship medals over her 12-year cycling career. She was also the first cyclist to be named Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year.

Yet behind these remarkable achievements lies a deeper story—one of fear, self-doubt, resilience, and transformation.

In this powerful 90-minute conversation, Victoria explores a radical and refreshing idea:

What if fear is not something to overcome… but something to work with?

Drawing from her book The Fear Opportunity, Victoria shares how we can begin to reframe fear—not as a limitation, but as a gateway to growth.

Rather than avoiding discomfort or trying to eliminate stress, she invites us to step beyond our comfort zones and discover a new relationship with challenge, risk, and uncertainty.

In her new book, The Fear Opportunity, Victoria shows how all of us learn how to use our stress responses in a positive way. What if the ultimate way to find calm, build strength and grow in confidence isn’t by reducing the risks we face, but by stepping outside of our comfort zones? What if we could grow our sense of self by doing things we doubted we were capable of and change our mindset to see life’s challenges as just another adventure?

This evening, Victoria will share her experience of how both self-doubt and your worst fears can become a catalyst for achieving your goals and the life you want, as she shares stories from her personal life including cycling, horse riding, confronting the death of her brother Alex and her failed attempt to climb Everest - that left her dangerously close to death and battling depression.

Victoria has poured everything she has learned from three decades of competition into her new book The Fear Opportunity so you can learn how to turn fear into an opportunity for growth and come out on top.

Copies of the book will be available to buy at the event, and Victoria will be signing books on the evening.

Join us for an evening that will challenge, inspire, and expand what you believe is possible.

About the speaker, Victoria Pendleton CBE

Victoria Pendleton started her cycling career in the 90s at a time when track cycling was deemed “too dangerous” for women to compete in, and then as the only woman being coached in the all-male British Track Cycling team, at a time when no provisions were made for female cyclists. Through grit and determination, and while being doubted at every stage of her career and in an incredibly sexist environment, Victoria smashed through several glass ceilings to become the most decorated female track cyclist of all time. After retiring from cycling, Victoria went on to defy the odds and train as a jump jockey, successfully competing at Cheltenham Races all while being told by men that it couldn’t be done.
