Description:

Two 120 minute classes: 4:00 PM BST

Sunday 11th Oct The Crane + Sunday 18th Oct The Deer

Learn the complete Eight Hands of the Crane and Eight Hands of the Deer, core qigong and fitness exercises from the rare Tibetan Lion’s Roar Martial Art (Sengueï Ngaro) practiced in both Tibet and border areas in China. These are dynamic striking techniques that may be practiced slowly or at full speed to develop strength, flexibility, focus, and qi (life force) while unifying with the spirit of the animals.

The dynamic qigong exercise component will be complemented by Buddhist qigong meditations, including those brought from India to China by the great Buddhist pilgrim Kumarajiva (344-413 CE). Kumarajiva’s meditations fill every cell with life force “like water entering sand”, burn away karmic hindrances to health and happiness, and, finally, illuminate the body/mind system with healing energy and wisdom.

Although primarily experiential, Ken will also share the fascinating history of this system and his own experiences learning from an accomplished Nyingma Buddhist practitioner in the early 1980s as well as a cross- cultural discussion of the crane and deer as teachers of longevity. Registered students will have access to a recording of each class.
