Talk Bookings

Do I need to book for Monday night talks? You do not need to book usually, the church holds 650 people, but occasionally we sell out for very well-known presenters. If in doubt please book in advance.

What is the advantage in pre-booking my ticket? Apart from ensuring your place you will also receive a free talk recording by email (to download to your computer and MP3 listening device). Most of our talks are recorded but a few are not. This is dependent on permission being given by the speaker.

What are your refund terms and conditions? We do not refund or transfer talk bookings, sorry.

 

Talk Recordings

I missed a talk I am interested in, how can I purchase the recording? Recordings of talks are made available around 72 hours after the event. You can purchase talk recordings via the website.

When will the recordings of Monday night talk be available to purchase? Normally they are available by that Wednesday at the latest.

I can see some of the talks are free, why is this? Once the talk is a year old we offer it free if you are a member of our website. To be a member you need to sign up via our homepage. Membership is free.

How do I access my free talks? Login or register for an account first via our websites homepage then once logged in you will find the free talks under your account.

 

 

Workshop Bookings

I have booked over the Internet and have not received my ticket? We do not post tickets for Internet bookings. You should have received an e-ticket. Please check your spam folder. Alternatively you can log into your personal account via our website and check on all your future bookings. You can also print your e-ticket from here.

I booked by sending a cheque and have not received my booking confirmation yet? Please email our office if you are concerned about your booking on admin@alternatives.org.uk

What is a concession? Concessions are for over 60's, full time students, people on disability allowance, and those claiming income support and job seekers allowance. When attending events proof must be shown at the door for talks and by sending photocopied evidence before the workshop (either snail mail or email is fine).

What are your refund terms and conditions? We do not offer a refund. However instead on request we can put a credit on a person account for the full amount which they can use for a future event. If you cannot attend an event and you want a credit you need to contact us before the date of the event.

Are workshops ever recorded? Workshops are almost never recorded, sorry.

I have a credit on my account from an event I could not attend, how do I redeem it? Please Email admin@alternatives.org.uk an tell us you have a credit you wild like to use, what event you would like to use it with and give us your full name and address.

 

Disability Access

If I have a special requirement what should I do? If you have a disability and require some information or help please let us know several days before the event so that we can accommodate you correctly.

I have a question about your venue regarding my disability needs? For any question relating to access for the disabled please contact the venue directly. We have the contact information for each of our venues included in the event information on our website.

How do I subscribe to the E-newsletter? On the home page there is a field on the right where you can subscribe to the E-Newsletter.

How do I unsubscribe? On the bottom of the newsletter there is an option to unsubscribe.

I want to change my email address, how do I do this? Just email the office on admin@alternatives.org.uk and indicate the old address and the new address.

My Online Account

How do I access my online account? If you have ever booked an event through our website then you already have an account - you just sign in

What can I do with my online account? You can change your personal details such as mailing address and email. You can check your future booking. You can leave feedback for events you have pre-booked. You can access lots of free resources (articles, past talks, podcasts) without any restriction. You can send an unlimited number of free e-cards to family and friends.

What if I have forgotten my password, what do I do? You can go to the account page and click on Send Password Reminder.

 

Accessing Free Online Resources

I see you have lots of free resources, how can I access them? If you have ever booked an event through our website then you already have an account. You just sign in where you can access lots of free articles, audio, and e-cards.

Changing Personal Mailing-Email Details

What is the easiest way to change my mailing address or email address? You can sign in to your account and change your personal details – your mailing address and/or your email.

I want to have your paper program posted to me? Please email admin@alternatives.org.uk telling stating you would like to be added to the ailing list and giving your full name and address, with postcode and we will add you to our mailing list.

I no longer want your paper program, what do I do? Please email admin@alternatives.org.uk giving your full name and postcode and stating that you do no longer want to receive our paper program and we will take you off our mailing list.

Do you have a paper free online program I can look at? We do, please go to the homepage of our website and you will see a link to it on the right-hand side of the page.

Volunteering

 How do I become a volunteer?

We have a group of volunteers who help out at our Monday night events and also with a set number of workshops per programme. The team is usually full and there is a waiting list. If you would like to be considered as a volunteer please steve@alternatives.org.uk please include your availability, your interest in our work and why you want to become a volunteer.

Can you suggest a good councillor/therapist? We regret that we cannot offer advice of this nature. However, St. James’s Church does offer a free caravan counselling service.
